iAd
Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 12:06PM Apple takes on Google advertising with Apple new advertising platform for mobile devices: iAd
Last Thursday (April 8th) the company gave a preview of their recently updated mobile operating system OS 4.0 from the 100’s of new features Steve Jobs (Apple CEO) only touched on 7. From these 7 the one that was most surprising was iAd
Apple explains in its release (see video below), when users click on mobile ads, they are mostly likely to be taken out of their app to a web browser, which loads the advertiser’s site. Majority of the time, that process completely cuts users off from what they were originally doing in the app. So, iAd’s solution is to offer advertisers a full-screen video and interactive ad content without ever leaving the app, and with a simple click letting users return to their app anytime they choose. Apple said it would sell and serve up the ads and give developers 60 percent of the revenue from ads that run in their programs.
