Write the future

From my recent trip to Tokyo, Japan i saw some really interesting advertising and marketing. The one that stood out the most was definitely the Nike ‘Write the future’ football campaign they currently have on at the Nike Sportswear flagship store in Harajuku.

Nike Japan has launched a global ‘Write the future’ campaign for the FIFA World Cup 2010 starring iconic Brazilian-Japanese footballer Marcus Tulio Tanaka (which they have made a full size statue of).

Nike is utilizing Twitter in asking the public to submit their comments in support of the World Cup. The best comments will be selected in four phases over the duration of the campaign.

The best messages will be carved on a life-size statue of Tanaka placed at Nike’s Harajuku store. Four cameras have been set up to capture when a winning message is carved on the statue. The campaign ends on 17th July

The campaign can be accessed via Nike Japan's website nike.jp/football/future/. The creative agency behind this brilliant campaign was Wieden+Kennedy – nice work guys.

Below you will find a video and few pics, Enjoy.

A one page guide to Social Media channels

The CMO Club and Bazaarvoice in the US recently conducted a survey of CMO's and found that 81% of CMO's plan to link their annual revenues to their social media investment. A huge stat pointing to the rapid increase in the importance of social as a means to not only connect with audiences but drive revenue.

In contrast, a recent survey in NZ conducted by the CAANZ Digital Leadership Group and Nielsen found that 84% of businesses surveyed planned to allocate less than 5% of their organisation’s marketing budget on social media activities in 2010.

It's a wide world of opportunity so as a start point CMO.com have published a one page guide to some of the opportunities available. Just click on the image below to be taken to a pdf version or if you want some more info then click on the links below to go to CMO.com or the CAANZ DLG site:

Google rolls out Live Updates in New Zealand

Live Updates instantly updates Search Results with new listings as they are discovered and indexed by Google. Two days after launching on Google.com; Live Updates are available on Google.co.nz and can be seen on any topical search.

This is a major update to Google's Search technology and brings "real-time search", the concept of all new information instantly indexed and available, one step closer.

To see it in action just go to Google and search on anything topical, "global warming" or "tiger woods" for example, and on the results page you will notice a section labeled "Latest Results for... " that updates every few seconds with news stories, tweets, blog postings, press releases etc.

Really cool use of the Facebook tagging tool as a branded promotional application!! This is a great new use of the Facebook environment without being just a standard brand page. Watch the video for a full explanation:
